. . . The DMRH cars . . .

A lot has gone through the doors of DMRH over the years & whilst the majority of rotary Mazda's have been the JC Cosmo, they have also been relatively mild. There have been a few exceptions & we though it best to place a few of the more memorable cars up on their own page.

This is where the quality of the pics start to drop as they have been photgraphed as we went along. Some modifications have been performed by DMRH & some by the owner.

. . . George Rehayhem . . .

DMRH supplied this Cosmo to George Rehayhem as a project car. Running his own succesful rotary workshop in Sydney. George wanted a late model Mazda rotary powered car that his 6'4" stature could reside in without the squeeze of his previous "series-6" RX-7. The 20B triple rotor engine suiting his tastes perfectly along with the luxury features standard on the top line Cosmo.

The Cosmo was quickly torn down & stripped to a bare shell in readiness for the PAC yellow that is so synonymus with his company colours. With a full re-spray completed the Cosmo was left for the the trimmers to re-stitch every last inch of leather to Georges requirements. The engine was left alone at this stage as Georges pending wedding was getting to close & the Cosmo was to be the bridal car. (Hence the MRS-20B rego plates)

Engine modifications are limited to an after market intercooler & free flowing exhaust as the 600hp engine is on its way. Preperations are already being taken care of ,to cater for the doubling of engine power with RX-7 SP discs & 4-spot calipers sitting behind a massive set of 20" wheels with spray on tyres. Lowered suspension completes the package. Sure as the PAC performance Rx-3 runs a 7-second quarter, this luxury machine will be getting a similar 20B package with a streetable ECU tune. Puts a warm meaning to the term... "get out of the way!!!!"

. . . Gary Goodman . . .

DMRH supplied this Cosmo to Gary Goodman as a weekender. Gary liked the leather trim of the Cosmo but thought the top line "Type-E.CCS" was a little too technical for his tastes so he opted for the mid range "Type-E" version. Once delivered, Gary wasted no time in taking the car over to ROTORMASTER in Sydney's west for a upgrade with the works. It seemed that 300hp just wasn't enough. Before that was to happen though, Gary had the Cosmo in for a full re-spray removing the factory two-tone for just the one complete colour of original Titanium grey.

The engine was quickly torn down & stripped. Rather than build a new engine suitable to garys requirements. The ROTORMASTER guys simply re-freshed one of their 7-second drag race engines & had it fitted back where it belonged. Thankfully, the 1000hp turbocharger from the series-6 "drag" Rx-7 wasn't fitted. Instead, a standard TO-4E was used for its driveability on the street. Custom pipework on the intake & exhaust was all fabricated for Gary as was an aftermarket EMS injection computer. The main theme of the upgrade was driveability & Gary doesn't accept 2nd best.

With a seriously strong engine to use & cruise on the streets, Gary set about enhancing the car further. On went a set of 20" wheels & since he likes to punish his cars. A set of AP racing discs & calipers where fitted to the front for sure stopping power. Its all monitored too. With the fitting of an Apex-i Rev-Speed-Meter (see pic) Gary knows his top speed, top RPM, 400m times, braking times, wheel correction factored speed, & plenty more. Crank up the mega dollar sound system, hunker back in the leather trimmed seat & plant that right foot. Your doing warp factor in seconds& with luxury not normally associated with 500hp engines & cars. Yet Gary wouldn't have it any other way.

Type-S (91) Worth a mention. The 1st JC Cosmo with a manual conversion performed in Australia. Mild both out & in, this Cosmo benifited from an upgraded exhaust & intake not to mention a great set of 17" wheels. What is a manual 20B powered Cosmo like to drive...? Its a totally transformed car with an all new personality.

Series-8 (99) Type-R. The 1st "series-8" RX-7 to go out our doors. Drove well & had a few dealer mods to it such as 17" wheels & Bose sound system. Standard otherwise. Black is a popular colour in Japan.

Series-8 (99) Type-R. The Japanese owner fitted a few extras to individualise his pride & joy. 3" Trust exhaust, Trust intake filter pods, Trust intercooler, Panspeed ECU. 18" AME wheels. This RX-7 went hard in still a relatively mild state of tune. The "innocent blue" paint work gave the RX-7 appeal beyond its normal circle of enthusiasts.

Type-SX (93) This was an exceptional Cosmo. Lowered with a set of 19" Zepter wheels holding massive 295/35x19 profile tyres out back. This is one Cosmo that stamped its pressence on the road. A 3" Trust exhaust ensured all gases where dumped easily & a HKS intake pod gulped more air than the factory box ever could. An RE-Amemiya ECU removed the boost cut & speed cut giving the 20B engine the fuel/ignition map it deserved. Needless to say, this incredible hulk was a leathal bullet when fired.
